Anand: Anand is till date the best film of Rajesh Khanna. This is among the best bollywood tragic movies which has made Rajesh Khanna what he is today. Written and directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, this film was released in 1970. Other than Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan has also played a great role in this film. Both of them are friends and among them Rajesh Khanna is suffering from Cancer.



Amitabh Bachchan (Bhaskar) plays the role of a doctor who is surprised by his zest for life. Anand always smiles and tries to enjoy the gifts of nature though he knows his impending future. Though he is very lonely somewhere inside, he never lets others know that. In the end, he dies while smiling. This inspires Bhaskar to write a book on his life. The music of the film is given by Salil Chowdhury.

Kal Ho Na Ho: Among the bollywood tragic movies, Kal Ho Na Ho ranks at the top. The cast of movie includes Shahrukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta as well as Jaya Bachchan. The film has been directed by Nikhil Advani and has been produced and co written by Karan Johar. The movie is all about unconditional love and empathy that three friends share amongst themselves. When the film starts, it shows that Naina (Preity) leads a very sombre life due to a family tragedy. The story takes a turn with the coming of Aman (Shahrukh) who is suffering from cancer. It is he who brings love in the life of Naina in the form of Rohit though he himself loves Naina.

Aman never shares the fact that he is ill and tries to bring happiness in the life of his neighbors. The film is said to have been inspired by Anand to some extent. The music of the film had gained a lot of popularity the moment it was released.

Safar: Safar is another bollywood tragic movies which was released in the year 1970 and was directed by the famous Asit Sen. The story of Safar gives importance to ordinary men and how they try to meet various challenges and compromises. The main characters of the movie - Neela and Avinash are played by Sharmila Tagore and Rajesh Khanna respectively. The music of the film has been composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.
