100 Days

Released in the year 1991, 100 Days is a Bollywood blockbuster. The film is a mystery thriller based on the theme of extra sensory perception. Partho Ghosh directed this thriller movie. The cast in the movie includes Madhuri Dixit as Devi, Jackie Shroff as Ram Kumar, Moon Moon Sen as Rama and Javed Jaffrey as Sunil. In the opening scene a young woman, Devi is shown getting sudden visions of incidents and accidents that might happen in future.

Devi's college friends Sudha (Sabeeha) and Sunil (Javed Jaffrey) try to help Devi from coming out of such visions but all in vain. Devi also gets the vision of her older sister Rama (Moon Moon Sen). Devi gets the impression of Rama being murdered by a mysterious man in a fedora and raincoat. In the film the footage of the man is kept secret and he is shown from behind and his face is not shown in the beginning.

Devi becomes tensed and worries for her sister she immediately calls Rama at her place and feels relaxed for the moment. But her sister really gets murdered just like in Devi's vision. After the murder her killer pulls her body off to an isolated place and places it inside the wall of the bungalow. Rama is reported missing but Devi firmly believes that Rama is not missing but dead.



As the story progresses further it flashes five years forward from the present day when Devi moves to her uncle's (Ajit Vachani) home. Here she finally meets Ram Kumar (Jackie Shroff) a millionaire businessman and marries him. Ram and Devi move into a new bungalow and happily begin their married life. Soon Devi gets another vision in which she sees a woman getting murdered. In that same vision she also finds a magazine cover with a horse on it and a video cassette labeled 100 Days. As the movie progresses many weird incidents unfolds into Devi's life. The film ends with Ram being led off by the police while Devi tiredly looking on.

The Partho Ghosh creation 100 Days, is written by Bhushan Banmali and Devjyoti Roy. The music is given by Raam Laxman and is a Arvind Laad Cinematography. The supporting actors in the movie include Ajit Vachchani, Jai Kalgutkar, Vijay Arora, Neelam Mehra, Sabeeha, Laxmikant Berde all have though small but powerful roles to play.

The movie became huge success of its time and grabbed many prestigious awards.
