IPL and Bollywood

The Twenty20 cricket is making waves throughout the Indian Subcontinent. The game is popularly known as the Indian Premier League. The inaugural ceremony of the game took place on 18th April, 2008. The heat of the Indian Premier League got into our pulse more as the entertainment industry started betting on it. IPL and Bollywood have come up together to put up the biggest entertainment show.

The 8 teams that are participating in the Indian Premier League are the Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers, Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils, Bangalore Royal Challengers, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. The duration of the league is 44 days and among these days 56 matches are planned to be played among the respective teams.

The co-relation of IPL and Bollywood is more highlighted as each of the team was announced a franchise. There are 8 franchise and the winners for each of the franchise are mostly from Bollywood. The Bollywood stars who are involved in promoting the cricket league are Shah Rukh Khan, Akhshay Kumar, Preity Zinta, Juhi Chawla and Hrithik Roshan.

The cricket franchises were bought with high prices by these Bollywood stars. The Kolkata Knight Riders were finally won by the Red Chillies Entertainment owned by Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and her husband industrialist Jai Mehta. The Red Chillies Entertainment is paving new ways to join up the sports world and the entertainment industry by investing heavily. The Kolkata Knight Riders bid was won at a price of $75.09 million. Another big bid is the Kings XI Punjab where Preity Zinta along with Karan Paul, Ness Wadia and Mohit Burman closed the bid at $76 million.

With so many big Bollywood stars getting into the cricket business, people are more attracted towards cricket grounds rather then the multiplexes and movie halls. The Bollywood stars are found to be present in the cricket grounds during the matches cheering their own teams. Indeed, IPL and Bollywood have come together and created a healthy relationship between sports and entertainment.

But the relation of IPL and Bollywood does not end up with only the superstars of Bollywood bidding for the game. There is more on the cards for the audience. Anu Malik one of the most versatile music composers of Bollywood has been hired by Mukesh Ambani to compose the music for his team. The song is sung by Sonu Niigaam, Abhijeet, Udit Narayan, Kunal Ganjawala and Anu Malik and the lyrics for the same is written by Javed Akhtar. Apart from them some of the other Bollywood music stars involved with IPL are Daler Mehendi, Ila arun, Shivani Kashyap and Bappi Lahiri.

IPL and Bollywood have come together to entertain people in a new way.
