The ICL matches became more exciting with the presence of the Bollywood Actors in ICL. Hundreds of people turned up to see the tournaments and also to see the Bollywood Actors in ICL. ICL roped many Bollywood stars to enhance the popularity of the game.
The matches saw the presence of many Bollywood stars. There were actors like Aamir Khan and Akshay kumar to add glamour to the matches. Besides these two actors Kareena Kapoor was also seen in the augural match of ICL. Kareena pleased the audience by her sizzling performance in the opening ceremony of the ICL 2007 in Panchkula.
ICL or Indian Cricket League is basically a private cricket league and it one of the present rival of the cricket league of BCCI. Presently the Twenty20 format of the Indian Cricket League has gained worldwide popularity. Most of the matches of the ICL are held at Tau Devi Lal stadium in Panchkula which is close to Chandigarh and Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad. Some other matches also take place in Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Gurgaon which is located close to New Delhi.
The Indian Cricket League (ICL) is headed by Kapil Dev. ICL is promoted by Essel Group of Subhash Chandra. Some of the most popular private clubs are Mumbai Champs, Chandigarh Lions, Delhi Giants, Hyderabad Heroes and Ahmedabad Rockets. Apart from these there are Lahore Badshahs, Chennai Superstars and Kolkata Tigers.
Recently the Bollywood star Mithun Chakroborty bought the Kolkata Tigers of the Indian Cricket League. He believes that the Twenty20 format of ICL is a great form of entertainment.
While Aamir and Akshay were seen promoting the matches of Twenty20 of ICL, Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta were seen in popularizing the Indian Premier League better known as IPL. While Shah Rukh supports the Kolkata franchise Priety Zinta is supporting the Mohali team.
Aamir is great fan of cricket and he loves watching this game. But unlike Shah Rukh he has no intentions of buying teams in ICL. Instead he wishes to stick to the Bollywood.
The tournaments of the Indian Cricket League received support from many quarters. The Railway minister of India, Lalu Prasad, extended his help. He opened all the cricket stadium that were owned by the Indian Railways. The government of West Bengal also agreed to rent Eden Gardens to the league.
